Any individual may navigate to the South Dakota Sex Offender Registry webpage to conduct a search for all offenders registered in the State. Offenders listed in the registry are classified in three (3) tier levels based on the sexual offense they’ve committed; Tier 1 is the least severe and Tier 3 is the most severe. Tier 1 offenders must register for a minimum of ten (10) years, Tier 2 offenders must register for a minimum of twenty-five (25) years, and Tier 3 offenders are required to register throughout their lifetime. It is not required to have knowledge of the offender’s Tier level when conducting a search, however, the offender may no longer be listed if their registration requirement has expired.
