An Ohio sex offender search can be conducted by searching the state’s Electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification (ESORN) database. This registry is made public in order to enable people to make themselves aware of individuals in their community that pose a potential threat. A search can be conducted using an offender’s address, name, city, non-compliance status, or internet alias/email address. Furthermore, a search can either be conducted with the goal of investigating a specific individual or to view a list of offenders residing within a certain area. In Ohio, all three (3) tiers of sex offenders are included in the state sex offender registry. Tier three (3) is the most severe level and requires the offender to register themselves every 90 days for their entire lifetime. Tier two (2) and one (1) offenders must report themselves every 180 days for 25 years and every year for 15 years, respectively.
