An Iowa sex offender search can be performed by any citizen wishing to gather information on sexual offenders or predators residing within the State of Iowa. All offenders convicted as of July 1st, 1995 are required to register with the Sheriff of the county in which they reside. Sex offenders are required to register regularly (annually, bi-annually, or quarterly depending on offense) for a period of ten (10) years. Violent sex offenders are required to register for life. The Iowa Sex Offender Registry is available to the general public and is updated on an hourly basis to provide users with the most accurate and current offender information.

Offenders can be searched by their email address or online nickname using the “Email & IDs” search option. This option will not display detailed information on the offender but will simply disclose whether or not an offender matches the email/nickname that was entered.
Step 8 – Telephone
Enter a telephone number into the space provided under the “Telephone” tab to discover if the person associated with that number is a registered sex offender.

Step 10 – Results
When performing a search based on information entered into the “Search” and “Advanced Search” options, a list of offenders that match the provided criteria will be displayed. The more information provided in the “Advanced Search” fields, the more precise the search results will be. “Telephone” and “Vehicle” searches will either yield a single result or no results at all.
When a “Map Search” is conducted, results can be displayed as a list (as shown in the image above) or on a map (below).
Clicking on an offender’s name within the list of results or clicking on an icon on the map results will display the offender’s detailed information. This information will include the offender’s address, physical description, level of offense and type(s) of offense(s).
