Hawaii criminal background checks can be accomplished by searching an individual by name or fingerprints through the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center (HCJDC). Options for obtaining a person’s criminal record include an online search engine or making a request through the mail (Form HCJDC-073). The more information provided to the Criminal Justice Center, the more reliable the search results will be. A fingerprint-based search is guaranteed to produce accurate search results, as long as the individual has a conviction record.

Cost – $5/search (+ $10 for official report document); $30/record check by mail ($35 for fingerprint-based search)

Step 1 – Background Check Authorization Form

It isn’t necessary to supply a background check authorization form to conduct an online criminal history search.

Step 2 – Go to Hawaii’s Criminal Information Site

A criminal background check can be done online by logging into, or signing up for an account. Navigate to the HCJDC eCrim website. Account holders can enter the necessary login information and proceed to “Step 3”. New users, click Sign Up.
